Market Pick Five | Early August

08.8.14
Hello! You've landed on an older recipe. Sometimes the older recipes aren't written as clearly as they should be or something might need to be clarified. If something seems confusing or a question arises, send me an email and I'll help!

As promised, another new series I'm starting on the blog! I'm really excited about this one because it harkens back to one of the main reasons I stuck with Naturally Ella about four years ago. I wasn't really sure what this space was going to be and then I joined an amazing CSA. Each week I'd photograph and share what was growing. It was, by far, one of the highlights in my early blogging 'career'. That part of the blog slowly faded out but I wanted to bring it back with a slightly different spin involving the farmers' market. Every other week, I'll be sharing five market picks for your weekend along with a few recipes to make with each.

I'd love to hear what your excited about this week and any recipes/ideas you might be making!

Right now this week is all about hanging on to summer for just a bit longer, so my picks are:

  1. Oooh, I like this series! SWEET CORN. Is what summer eating is all about. I'm embarrassed to say I haven't had any yet this year.

  2. Oh man.. these photos are incredible. Your photography is simply amazing.
I would have loved some of those figs right now.

  3. I made the Roasted Eggplant with Cumin-Scented Spelt and Fig Chutney for dinner tonight and it was delicious! Very tasty and a nice variety of textures. And your timing is perfect...my fig tree is loaded with ripe fruit and there was eggplant in my CSA share this week. Oh, and I found two unopened bags of spelt berries in the pantry. My husband and I nearly ate a double batch of the recipe for dinner. I don't know that we are especially big eaters, or it was just too good or what...but I was glad I doubled the recipe! Thanks very much for this unusual and tasty combination!
