I’ll get right to the point: I have a new book called The Yearlong Pantry. The truly excellent news is that the book releases next week on Tuesday, October 22nd. You can preorder it from most places where books are sold. As always, preorders greatly help authors, so I appreciate any preorder!
This announcement is nearly a decade in the making. In part, since writing my first book on flour and falling in love with these ingredients. But also, my continued realization how important these ingredients are.
Grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds are at the core of my cooking, the fundamental ingredients that make my meals filling, delicious, and special. I’ve remained forever fascinated by all the things these small ingredients can do. My hope is that you, too, will find inspiration among the ingredients.
So, what can you expect from the book?
The book contains three main sections: grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds. In each section, you can find detailed instructions for cooking each ingredient, ways I use the ingredients that might not typically be traditional, and a highlight on products you might find at the store using these ingredients.
Non-recipe information includes how I crack grains to create interesting textures in meals, detailed bean cooking instructions from start to flavor finish, and quick references on different things you can make with nuts and seeds at home.
And, of course, recipes! There are over 80 recipes using all types of grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds.
I hope you enjoy The Yearlong Pantry as much as I’ve enjoyed making it (and that the book will become a go-to companion for you in cooking).
As always, thank you for all the support (and the preorders). This website has been quite a journey, and I’m so excited to share even more delicious vegetarian cooking with you.
What a nice Halloween present! Having a kid has kind of ruined my diet, but we try to sneak a good meal in here and there. I have enjoyed your component cookbook but much prefer these fully composed recipes. Thank you!
This book looks great! I'm not sure if you're aware, but the format of the Kindle version is messed up. It forces your phone into landscape mode and the text is too small to read. Wanted to let you know in case it's fixable!
