I hesitated writing this post because I know you come here for recipes but after so many years on the internet, I also know quite a few of you follow along like we’re friends (and it’s kind of awesome). This is, what should be, the conclusion to a three part series that started back in August when I decided to go off birth control for health reasons. This choice resulted in a surprise pregnancy which resulted in the birth of this guy, forth known as Mack (his name is actually my husband’s- Mack will be the III).
The short of it: Mack was born at 1:34am on May 15th (two days before his due date) after 5 hours of labor (he clearly takes after me- impatient and ready to get moving). I’ve felt great, he’s done so well, and life feels pretty much complete at this moment.
I’m not going to share a birth story (seems a bit much for a site all about food) but I will say that in the whole process, I took everything I could read on the internet and prepared for the ‘worst.’ However, everyone’s experience is different and if I give any advice, it’s take any advice or information with a hefty grain of salt.
While I’ve already gotten back into the kitchen (gives me a sense of normal), I gave myself maternity leave to soak up every bit of love in the first few weeks. I have post schedule through the end of June but I will be slow to respond to comments and emails (sometimes we all just need some time to step away from technology.) I appreciate the support and patience in the meantime.0
