I have a confession: I love food bloggers. Seriously, I don’t think there is a nicer bunch of people- especially everyone I met this past weekend. I couldn’t have imagined going to Alt without them. Each one inspires me so much (and if you don’t know all of them, be sure to check each and everyone out!)

At the conference I tagged along with Heidi, Maria, Becky, Kathryne, Kelsey, Melissa, and Jeanine. I enjoyed having a group  to help talk a bit of shop and still have fun (and I think some of them got my talk on trying to figure all of this out). On Saturday we met up with Kelly for lunch at Robert Redfern’s restaurant in Park City and for dinner we all gathered at Heidi’s house where Deborah, Annalise, Krista, and Dara joined us. Saturday was all about food, great company, wine, and more food (aka waffles).

I tagged along with my camera while dinner was being made. I rarely shoot at night and when I do, I use flash, so this was a bit of a challenge! It was fun watching other bloggers make their recipes (and as it turns out, we all occasionally refer back to our own sites for recipes!) Also, I draw your attention to the Lasagna- I don’t eat mushrooms but I did with this dish (who knows, maybe I’m warming to them!) I can’t wait to whip up these recipes again!

Dinner:

Artichoke and Hazelnut Dip from Dara of Cookin’ Canuck

Butternut Squash Lasagna with Shiitake Mushrooms from Heidi of Foodie Crush

Chopped Kale Salad with Pomegranate and Avocado from Dara

Lemon Olive Oil Cake from Annalise of Completely Delicious

(I also owe a big thanks to Heidi who drove us around, let us commender her house, and was overall one of the nicest/most inspiring people to meet in person. As well as Maria for hanging out with us/driving us around, and Becky for taking me vintage shopping and giving us a few SLC goodies. I’d love to head back out to SLC just to hang out with these wonderful ladies!)

  • Heidi @foodiecrush

You perfectly captured the spontaneity of the evening, and look at all of those empty plates! Whew, relief. Not easy cooking for a bunch of food bloggers! So happy to host you all, and I’m sooo glad you pulled out the camera to document. I agree that the best part of Alt Summit was meeting, and learning from all of you. It’s amazing how each and every one of us has something unique to share, to teach one another. And I love my photo-bombing dogs. I mean, what’s a party without puppers? XOXO

Hello, i’ve previously been a sporadic follower but now a newbie consistent follower :-) I just wanted to pipe up and say I don’t like mushroms either…but being a plant based foodie I feel I ought to try and like them as they are so versatile, so far I’ve discovered I like them raw but not cooked- progress right? :-)

    • elalderson

That is progress! I’m trying SO hard to like them. It’s half texture/half flavor.
