Breaks from school are never how I imagine.

I watched two seasons of Grey’s Anatomy and I’m okay with that.

Seriously, this is not what I had planned but when things like being sick happen, that is about all you can do.  Luckily, I was able to accomplish two things on my week off: go to the csa and cook thanksgiving dinner.

The trip to the csa was actually awesome.  I had no idea that so much grew into November:

I also was able to grab a few heads of lettuce.  It is unbelievable that I can have a fresh salad when it is 30˚ outside!

As for Thanksgiving, I had a wonderful dinner with my parents and grandparents.  Although there were only five of us, I cooked enough food for ten.

I spent the entire morning in the kitchen, watching Grey’s (once I started watching, I couldn’t stop) and making food.  I couldn’t have asked for a better day.

Menu:

*Stuffed turkey breast with caramelized onion stuffing

* Traditional Mashed Potatoes and Maple/Sage Mashed Sweet Potatoes

*Corn Casserole (without creamed corn and corn bread mix!)

*Bourbon Cranberry Compote

*Three Cheese and Butternut Squash Gratin

*Brussels Sprouts with Buttered Pecans

Unfortunately my break is done and I am back to school tomorrow for two more weeks and finals (yikes!)

Hi, Ella, I’m with you — I also mostly watched TV this break, though it was mostly bad 90′s action films on Netflix instant download. Hang in there for the next 3 weeks — we’ll make it! I’m glad Winter Break is a week before Christmas this year so I don’t have to rush around after school is finished.

I enjoyed relaxing this last week. The break flew by way too fast! You can make it these last three weeks!
