You see these boots:

These boots tromped around a farm picking produce.  I officially love the farm.

For those of you who may be confused, I joined a CSA.  For those of you who are still really confused, a CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  The idea is that you prepay (or buy into) produce and in return, you get a box of produce every week from the farm you choose.  As for me, I joined a CSA that allows you to come out to the farm and pick whatever is ready that week.

Again I state, I love the farm.

Since the season  just got started, I picked a lot of greens (lettuce, Asian greens, and arugula), radishes, and rhubarb.

How gorgeous, right?

Even better, I love the feeling of knowing my farmer and being able to pick the my own food.  What a fresh perspective from the heads of lettuce that are shipped across the country (and sometimes across the ocean.)

My goal for the summer is to pick whatever is ready any given week and base as many recipes as I can on what I pick.  So, if you like the idea of seasonal eating-check back often!

First recipe tomorrow!

I feel like I have been living under a rock! There’s so much advertisement for processed and junk food that efforts to promote healthy alternatives become muted. I am hoping there is a CSA nearby where I live. I would be more than happy to join to support them. Nothing beats freshly picked produce from a farm.

    Thank you for sharing.
