Super cute meringue mushrooms

Do you remember the excitement you would get when school would break for the winter?  I know that eventually breaks will mean family holidays and entertaining kids; so, I should enjoy this time, right?

This means reading, sleeping, and time well spent in the kitchen.  I do not think I can possibly explain how wonderful my mornings are while Mike is still asleep.  I make coffee, curl up on the couch, and grab my latest book.  I will lounge around (still in pajamas) until I feel the need to continue my day.  So.Freakin.Amazing.  Sure I read the whatever cheap romance books I can find at the library (hey, the have a good story line!) and drink more coffee than I really should, but honestly, I couldn’t ask for a more relaxing time.

So, when I found these adorable meringue mushrooms, I could not resist making them!  I didn’t really have a plan when I started but the end result was a whimsical cupcake.

See, adorable right?

These mushrooms were easy to make (despite the long instructions.)  They take a bit to bake and I didn’t whip my meringue as long as I probably should have, but they still turned out in the shape of a mushroom.  Don’t judge, I have an obsession for cuteness.

At any rate, with a foot of snow on the ground (and still falling), a cup of coffee and a good book are calling my name right now.  I couldn’t think of a better way to ring in the New Year.

Also, one more thing I wanted to share, I hate produce bags at the grocery store.  Every time, bags upon bags stack up and I get so frustrated.  So, when I found these produce bags from Baggu, I fell in love and promised myself that when I had a little extra money, I would buy a few.  As of today, they are on their way!  It is the small things in life that get me excited.
